Abstract
Background: Effective communication among healthcare professionals is essential for ensuring quality patient care and successful rehabilitation outcomes. Despite its recognized importance, communication challenges persist in multidisciplinary rehabilitation settings.
Methods: This study surveyed 91 rehabilitation professionals in various healthcare contexts using a structured online questionnaire. The survey explored perceptions of communication quality, training received, and tools used in everyday practice.
Results: The majority of participants rated communication among colleagues as generally effective, though a significant portion identified areas needing improvement, particularly in interprofessional dialogue and meeting management. Most respondents acknowledged the importance of communication training, yet 12% reported no formal education in this area. Commonly used communication channels included team meetings, email, and shared clinical records.
Discussion: While overall communication is perceived positively, findings highlight the need for enhanced training programs and organizational strategies to strengthen interprofessional collaboration and information sharing. Improving communication can contribute to better patient management and team satisfaction.
Conclusions: Investing in communication skills and structured opportunities for dialogue is vital for rehabilitation teams. Tailored training and optimized communication tools can support more cohesive, effective teamwork and ultimately improve patient care quality.
